NKN stands for Nomex-Kapton-Nomex, a 3-ply material developed by DuPont. It combines two layers of high-temperature Nomex insulation with a center layer of Kapton film, creating exceptional resistance to heat and electrical conduction. NKN is commonly used in aerospace and high-voltage electrical components where reliability under extreme conditions is critical. Edison Tactical is the first to repurpose this advanced insulating material to protect pistol optics from heat transfer, extending electronics and battery life in real-world shooting conditions.
